Tamarack Variable Assist™ Joint
The variable assist joints are another great addition to the Tamarack Flexure Joint™ system. They are used with the dorsiflexion assist model (joints included in package) and provide a continuously adjustable mounting angle. By adjusting the mounting angle, the moment of assist provided to the joint axis can be fine tuned to your patient's changing needs. The Tamarack Variable Assist™ joints provide a sleek, cosmetically appealing orthosis, with the same durability and strength seen from the entire line of Tamarack joints.
Fabrication is as quick and easy as the standard installation with use of the molding dummies, which are included with each package.
The Tamarack Variable Assist™ allows the moment of dorsiflexion-assist to be adjusted over a continuous range, and reach much greater values than provided by the standard installation.
Molding Dummies
Tamarack Molding Dummies are used to create snug-fitting cavities in a vacuum-formed orthosis for Tamarack Variable Assist Joints™.
Although vacuum-forming over the Tamarack Joints themselves will not harm them, this fabrication method will not provide the best performance. The specific configuration of the molding dummies allows the vacuum-formed plastic to fit more completely and snugly around the actual flexure joints. This snug fit produces a more precise, controlled joint articulation.
Note:
Molding dummies gradually lose their shape with repeated use. They should be discarded after two uses. A pair of molding dummies are included with each package.
