Tamarack Dorsiflexion Assist Flexure Joint™
Tamarack Dorsiflexion Assist Flexure Joints provide motion assist for orthotic devices from ankle-foot orthoses, to elbow, wrist, and some pediatric knee applications. They have a biased design that provides motion assist power similar to traditional metal dorsi-assist ankle joints. (However, they contain no troublesome coil springs.)
Three durometers are available: 75, 85, or new 95 durometer polyurethane. Dorsiflexion assist flexures of the same size may be interchanged with each other or with the original free-motion Tamarack Flexure Joints to vary the amount of motion assistance provided. See the Tamarack Selection Guide below for specifications on the amount of assist provided by each combination.
Dorsiflexion assist Tamarack Flexure Joints provide a cosmetically appealing and functional option for dorsiflexion assist. They are at the same price as the original free-motion flexures. The cost and ease of fabrication of all Tamarack products enhances your effort to prosper in today's health care market.
Molding Dummies
Tamarack Molding Dummies are used to create snug-fitting cavities in a vacuum-formed orthosis for free-motion and dorsiflexion assist Tamarack Flexure Joints™.
Although vacuum-forming over the Tamarack Flexure Joints™ themselves will not harm them, this fabrication method will not provide the best performance. The specific configuration of the molding dummies allows the vacuum-formed plastic to fit more completely and snugly around the actual flexure joints. This snug fit produces a more precise, controlled joint articulation.
Note:
Molding dummies gradually lose their shape with repeated use. They should be discarded after about ten moldings.
