How does it do this?
Each Clevisphere™ joint can rotate about any axis within a 24° conical range (see illustration). This is usually enough variation so that casual "eyeball" alignment errors and /or some tibial torsion joint alignment are automatically accommodated without joint binding.
The adjustment screw comes with medium strength thread locker already applied. Adjustments will progressively loosen that lock. Reapply thread locker as necessary.
Tamarack Molding Dummies are used to create snug-fitting cavities in a vacuum-formed orthosis for Tamarack Clevisphere™ Joints.
Although vacuum-forming over the Tamarack Joints themselves will not harm them, this fabrication method will not provide the best performance. The specific configuration of the molding dummies allows the vacuum-formed plastic to fit more completely and snugly around the actual flexure joints. This snug fit produces a more precise, controlled joint articulation.
Molding dummies gradually lose their shape with repeated use. They should be discarded after two uses. A pair of molding dummies are included with each package.
New Clevisphere Design Improvements
As shown in the picture above, the lower photograph shows the dampener pad cavity prior to securing the leather sound dampener. The middle photograph shows the newly-redesigned Tamarack Clevisphere Joint after installing the leather sound dampener pad. Finally, the top picture shows the original Clevisphere Joint, with the leather pad secured to the top of the joint casting.
The latest Clevisphere Joints feature a recessed dampener cavity that prevents the leather pad from sliding or falling off during extended wear. The adjustable screw feature of the Clevisphere Joint has also been enhanced to prevent breakage. Together, these engineering improvements are designed to increase patient performance, compliance and satisfaction.
